CBM Sustainable Design Pty Ltd, the wholly owned Professional Services subsidiary of CBM Sustainability Group has successfully executed a major contract for the Design and Project Management of the $185m Musselroe Bay Ecotourism Development proposed on Tasmania’s far North-East tip.

CBM’s dynamic team of Architects, Engineers, Design Technicians and Project Managers have commenced work on the Project and are developing exciting new designs for this world-class ecotourism Project. The Project comprises an international standard golf course together with a 5 star Resort which incorporates 100 hotel suites and 80 apartments. Other components of the Project incorporate a Visitor and Interpretation Centre, Air strip, Prestige guest house, Holiday units and Waterbird viewing platforms.

The permanent protection of vast tracts of the 3,500 acre site together with the enhancement of existing heathland and wetland areas are a key element of the Development Master Plan prepared by CBM. The Project, to be constructed over 5 years, will provide a major economic boost to Tasmania and will significantly increase employment opportunities particularly in Northern Tasmania.

The CEO of CBM Sustainability Group, John Dingemanse said that CBM’s commitment to, and proven experience in, sustainability was a key factor in CBM’s success in procuring the Project and he said that the design will be driven by ESD principles. He also said that the Project Developer backed CBM’s commitment to support local businesses, consultants and contractors for the long-term benefit of Tasmania. John Dingemanse said that the Project Developer, based in Melbourne, was committed to the commencement of on-site construction of infrastructure by June 2014. He said that CBM was well advanced in the planning and concept design of the Eco-tourism Development and aimed to procure Development Approval by the end of this year.
