The Areca Boutique Hotel is located in Launceston, Tasmania, and overlooks the historic City Park in the centre of the City. The project initially presented many design challenges for CBM. The client had an extensive brief but was limited by a small site, which is nestled between existing buildings and only accessible by a narrow one-way street.

 

The design juxtaposes the new facility with the adjacent mid-century buildings, and succeeds in creating its own visual identity.

 

CBM delivered a contemporary design that makes full use of the small site and compliments the surrounding setting, creating a building that not only prides itself in efficiency but also provides its occupants with generous rooms and a large open space for dining and social interaction.
